In my book Breaking Conformity, I was challenged to break down and make myths out of cliché jargon that leaders have sold people for years to try to motivate them temporarily.

I hear people say one of my favorites all the time: “Failure is not an option.”  Look people, failure is always your first readily available option! People believe this because it’s a mechanism to rationalize their position or to convince themselves that everything will be ok.

Failure is always an option if you don’t plan, prepare and execute. Even then a version of failure could still happen, but what we know is that the only true failure is found when we quit.

Failure is definitely an option, but it is a privilege reserved for those people who try. Napoleon Hill said, “Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it a seed of equal or greater benefit.”
